Project Management

The challenge in managing projects usually lies in the fact that the partners’ employees do not report directly to the project manager. Of course, there are project management tools that the project manager can use – the decisive factor is usually whether he or she succeeds in convincing the partners’ employees of the purpose of the project and the joint decisions, so that everyone works actively and independently.

I offer the management of projects and work packages at public service rates. I can also take on short-term replacements, e.g. for employees on parental leave.

Measurements and consulting for industrial customers

Many new technologies and products require analyses in the atomic dimension during development and production. Examples of this are batteries, catalysts, additive materials, semiconductor components, membranes, coatings … X-ray and electron microscopy investigations make it possible to examine the structure and composition of materials at nanometre level.

As a crystallographer, I offer to plan, prepare, carry out and analyse experiments/measurements on synchrotrons and in laboratories for you.

Writing Grant Applications

In my 20 years of experience, successful project submissions are characterized by answering a few questions:

  • How is the project different from previous ones?
  • What remains after the project and what does the project have to deliver?
  • Is the project interesting for the public?
  • What competencies does the team of partners have and how is responsibility for aspects of the project distributed among the partners?
  • Is there a common interest between the partners and how do partners motivate each other?

I offer proposal writing for a fixed price or – if I am interested in the topic of the project – on a performance-related basis.

Coaching

In the Europe-wide CAROTS/DESY Startup School format developed under my leadership, one or two of the ten to twelve participants found a startup every year. This is a high success rate and is based on the fact that the participants are taught practical knowledge.

My offer is to develop a similar format for my clients and to advise spin-offs in the first few years. This can take the form of shares or a fee.
